  • Wow, it's been about a year since I've blogged.  And it's about a month till my wedding.

There are a lot of unbelievable things that's happened since David and I started this journey to marriage:

-Reconciliation between me and my mom: we've had this very screwed up relationship for about four years.  I was ready to accept that our wedding day will be an awkward time between me and my parents, but God did not let me settle for that.

-Reconciliation between my parents and his parents: they're not best of friends by any means.  But they sure are willing to work things out as "co-parents" for the two of us.

-Abundant financial help: many friends and family have been generous to help us with wedding expenses.  My dress, the cake, our dj, center pieces have been covered by those we love and love us.

-Many helping hands in my life in general: great team at work who are always willing to pick up slack for one another, very helpful and kind parents of my students who have made this year run smoothly, awesome girl friends, and a handful of mentors in this time of planning for transition.

Jesus had an encounter with a dad who's son was hysterically ill.  The disciples have tried to provide healing but were unsuccessful.  The dad finally came to Jesus and said "Lord, help my unbelief." I think I go through times when what I am given seems more than I can manage, and then I'm reminded of my life.  Whenever I reach a point of unbelief, I don't have to look far or hard.

  • I'm reading this book called Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper.  It comes with study questions and here is one of them:

Can people tell that you are a follower of Jesus by:
-the way you spend your money?
           -the way you dress?
-the way you spend your free time?

Just thought you'd enjoy thinking that through.

  • I go through this cycle when I work long and hard for a period of time and then at the end of it I feel entitled to not doing work for a while.  I hate this mentality!!

So yesterday morning, I did EVERYTHING I needed to do that fit in my Mary Poppins bag (magical bag of stuff that contains work, work, and more work).  Pretty much the only thing I didn't do are my report card comments.

Well, I got home around 3ish today and I just can't, until now,  get myself to even get it started. Part of it is because I decided to pick up Deathly Hollows and I had difficulty putting it down

Anyway, ok ok enough procrastination from me.  I'm gonna turn on Gilmore Girls Season 2 Disk 1.  And I'm gonna type up my comments until at least I get half of them done.  I'll try.

  • If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
    -2 Chronicles 7:14
